Where will the next goldback series be?

We get this question virtually every day. Right now the answer is: South Dakota. The follow up question might be… why though? We have the State sponsorship program, but is there more to it? Was there simply a sponsor for South Dakota before there was one for Vermont?

The first thing to understand is that a new series needs a community of businesses in order to thrive. There’s usually a lot of activity in a State before a new series is ever released. Our plan is to provide some tools to help people network with other folks in their own States to get sound money there. If you’re the only person in Delaware that is interested in Goldback then it might not be the greatest next fit. We are actually starting to see a lot of business owners across the whole country sign up their online for when we do make it to their State.

The second part has to do with laws that support sound money within your State. Some States are very hostile towards precious metals and go as far as to charge sales tax on gold, including Goldbacks. According to SoundMoneyDefense.org the States with the most sound money friendly laws are:

  1. Wyoming

  2. South Dakota

  3. Alaska

  4. New Hampshire

  5. Texas

  6. Utah

7. Arizona

8. Nevada

9. Tennessee

10. Florida

11. Idaho

12. Oklahoma

Goldbacks operate off of State level laws. While we believe that under the State level uniform commercial code laws that Goldbacks may be legal to use in every State, that could change at any time. It is important for us to operate in jurisdictions friendly to sound money. Note: that three of the four most friendly States have their own Goldback series, and five out of eight of the most friendly States have their own series. Given the tight correlation, this list might be a good hint at which State may be getting the next series. It also might hint at the first big State taken on by Goldback.
